The Killers by Ernest Hemingway

This short story tells about two fellows who want to kill a man which name is Ole Andreson. Ole Andreson always eats supper at Henry’s lunchroom everyday. He usually comes to Henry’s at six o’clock in the evening. Because of the two fellows know about Ole Andreson’s habit, so they come to Henry’s to get their target and kill him. The first fellow is called Max and the second is Al. When they arrive at Henry’s they meet George. George is a manager at Henry’s. There is two others men at Henry’s at that time. The first is Nick Adams. He is a customer there, he has talk about something with George when the two fellows come. The second one is Sam. He is the chef there.

To make their plan to kill Mr. Andreson goes well, they instruct George, Adams, and Sam to assemble, then Al with Adams and Sam go to the kitchen. In the kitchen, Al ties Adams’ and Sam’s hands. At the counter, Max watches George. He tells George to tell everybody who comes to Henry’s that the cook is off. When someone still want to eat there, Max tells George to tell the customer to go to kitchen and cook by his or her self. George does what is told by Max to the customers. In that time, George asks to the fellow, Max, why he wants to kill Ole Andreson. Max tells George the reason why he and his friend, Al, want to kill Ole Andreson. The reason is Ole Andreson had kill their friend. At seven past five, the fellows go out from Henry’s because they are sure their target does not come to Henry’s.

After they go out, George tells everything his know about the two fellows to his friends, Adams and Sam. Nick Adams is told by George to tells Mr. Andreson about the two fellows. Nick gets Mr. Andreson’s address from George. George and Adams do not care about Sam who tells them not to get in this problem. Nick tells Ole Andreson everything about the two fellows and tells him to get out of the town to take care of his self, but Ole Andreson ignores his advice. Ole Adreson does not look at Nick Adams during they are talking. Nick gives up with Mr. Adreson. He comes back to Henry’s and tells George what he gets from Ole Andreson. After that, they decide to go out of the town because they do not want to think about Ole Andreson will be killed by those two fellows and they cannot do anything.
